About me

I am an experienced, accredited psychotherapist and EMDR Europe practitioner with an independent practice based in Barrow-in-Furness, South Cumbria and availability in Ulverston and Kendal. I have over 25 years’ experience working in mental health in the UK, India, and the Sultanate of Oman; I worked in the NHS psychology services for 14 years and my combination of training and experience enables me to work with a wide range of psychological difficulties. I am committed to incorporating research and new developments into my work and tailor my approach to suit an individual’s needs.

My speciality: psychological trauma

Trauma is a complex issue: problems are often deep-seated and can be challenging to treat. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective, comprehensive psychological treatment for trauma, founded on a strong evidence base: it is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). There is also growing evidence of its effectiveness in the treatment of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and physical pain.

More information on EMDR is available here.
